Job Responsibilities
What you’ll do:
At Billtrust, we are offering a 12-week Information Security internship program. You will get the opportunity to work with subject matter experts and thought leaders who will provide industry insights and hands-on learning experiences. As the Information Security Intern at Billtrust, you will be involved with information assurance activities including tactics, techniques and procedures for continuous monitoring and effectiveness measurement of security controls. These components include, supporting information security training efforts to provide the appropriate training for all employees, conducting information security risk assessments to evaluate information systems, programs and procedures and providing reporting metrics and testing as needed. You will also help identify process improvements through changes in practice, standardization or through automation.
Our Security Operations Team is responsible for the monitoring, detection, investigation, and responding to cyber threats against Billtrust. This includes pinpointing potential security threats and thwarting them as quickly as possible, monitoring relevant external sources (such as threat lists) that may affect the organization’s security posture and heading the Security Awareness of the company.
As an intern, you will go through our on-boarding process which consists of training on Billtrust’s products, core values, and competencies. We will kick-off the internship program with a networking outing to get to know your fellow interns and provide continuous opportunities for other social outings with your peers, mentors, and other Billtrust employees. You will participate in our weekly Talent Talks to further cultivate your professional skills (e.g. Building a Striking LinkedIn Profile, Networking Techniques, Interviewing Best Practices, and more). Throughout the program, you will receive in-depth check-ins and feedback conversations to track your progress. While you are gaining hands-on experience you will work on developing a capstone project to present your ideas on specific industry topics at the end of the program. Your audience will consist of your mentors, managers, peers, and even family members that you choose to invite.
This is not your typical internship program of filing papers and taking coffee orders. You’ll gain first-hand experiences in a rapidly growing, innovative SaaS (software as a service) company unlike any other. An internship should prepare you for what’s next. Our program will do just that.

SALARY RANGE BELOW FOR COLORADO BASED APPLICANTS ONLY
Target Base Compensation: $22.00/hr – $24.00/hr
Please note that the compensation information that follows is a good faith estimate for Colorado-based hires only and is provided pursuant to the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act and Equal Pay Transparency Rules. Billtrust intends to offer the selected candidate base pay within this range, dependent on job-related, non-discriminatory factors such as experience and location. What you’ll bring to the team:
- Education: currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Cyber Security or related field
- Preferred Experience: understanding of Windows and Linux operating systems and knowledge of information systems and security technologies
- Areas of Interest: Cyber Security, Security Awareness, Business Operations or Data Analysis
- Technical aptitude and learning agility: learn quickly when faced with new challenges and situations; analyze success and failures
